Internship opportunities are made available every March/April. Feel free to read about our programs and check back in the spring for application deadlines and details.
We have two internship tracks geared toward people desiring hands on experience in a church ministry setting. No filling coffee cups or filing papers, these internships will allow you the opportunity to be an integral part of the Flood Staff! One track is part-time and reserved for college students, the other is full-time and aimed at people who would like to pursue (or are pursuing) full time ministry, including a seminary education. For all the details regarding the Flood Internship Program read the Q & A below. Applications can be downloaded on this page as well. If you have any questions feel free to contact the Intern Coordinator, Adam Klekowski at 858.268.2330 ex.307 or AdamK@DIVEintoFLOOD.com
The Flood Internship Program was created for two reasons. First, we are a church committed to training, equipping and empowering men and women to be effective leaders in the Church. We desire for this program to prepare you for whatever God has in store for you and your ministry to Him. Specifically, at the end of your intern commitment, we would love to see you involved in a Flood Church plant somewhere in the world or continue serving God through our church here in San Diego. Secondly, we are a rapidly growing church facing unique ministry challenges. We need capable, competent and committed men and women who can join the staff and serve the needs of the Flood body. Whether you have a passion for children, youth, college students, young adults, or families there is certainly a place for you to lead and serve at Flood!
Currently, we offer two Internship Programs. Each program has limited availability and begins in the fall of each academic year.
Undergraduate Internship
College can be an exciting and challenging time. The experiences are rich and life changing, and the decisions that you make will certainly impact your future for a lifetime. This program is specifically designed to help you become an effective minister within your community, including the church. While pursuing your education, you will be a part-time staff member at Flood. Though your job description at Flood will be vast and varied, the goal of the program is to help prepare you for whatever will come after college. You will be placed in an area of ministry of your choosing and be matched with a Staff member for the year who will serve as your mentor and supervisor. Though this Internship is unpaid, we will gladly assist you in raising financial support to help cover any necessary expenses or provide you with some extra spending cash.
Graduate Internship
As one gets older, life seems to get more complicated. What do you want to do with your life? Where should you start your career? What type of legacy do you want to leave on this earth? This program is specifically designed for people seeking to go into full time ministry at a church. Not only will you be an integral part of the leadership staff at Flood, but you will also be gaining the necessary experience and skills to help prepare you to be a successful minister in today's changing world. We see these internships as a training ground for the leaders of future Flood Church plants. Through a partnership with Bethel Seminary, you will be pursuing a Master's Degree and have the choice of a variety of degree programs. While serving at Flood, you will be overseeing a ministry, as well as fulfilling a variety of roles and duties. This internship will certainly be challenging as you will embark upon full time academic and ministerial pursuits. All Graduate Interns will be required to raise financial support to cover all educational and personal expenses. Flood will not only assist in helping you raise your support but will also contribute towards your education and living expenses.
Flood's Commitment
Graduate Intern's Commitment
Though we value the volunteer efforts of all people at Flood, there are some minimum requirements that must be met for each of our Internship Programs.
Qualifications for the 1 year Undergraduate Intern Track
Qualifications for the 3-4 year Graduate Intern Track
There is a thorough application process that will help us get to know you better and also allow us to see your desires in ministry. To begin, simply complete the following items available for download below (you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader) and return them to the Flood Offices:
Once all forms are completed and turned in, you will then be telephoned and asked to interview with members of the Flood Staff. At this point, final decisions will be made and we will notify you via email and/or a phone call regarding the results. If selected for the program, you will then receive your ministry assignments and expectations.
If you are applying for a Graduate Internship you will also need to apply to Bethel Seminary. We highly recommend a campus visit which can be scheduled through the Admissions Office by calling 619.582.8188. You can also find application information at http://seminary.bethel.edu/sandiego/
All applications are due no later than Sunday, April 20, 2008 in order to be considered for the 2008-2009 academic year. If you are considering the Graduate track, please talk with Adam before applying. The program begins August 21, 2008 with a special staff retreat and concludes at the end of May 2009.
