Pacific Beach Cleanup

Dear San Diegans,

I hope you’re well.

As you may know, Disney is giving away a free Disneyland pass to each person who volunteers for one of our beach cleanups. We have three more events remaining. They will be on March 13, April 10 and May 1.

New volunteers can click http://jcsm.org/pbcleanup/register/ to register. Please hurry because they could hit 1 million free tickets and stop accepting new registrations at any time. Please spread the word to your friends, family, co-workers and students.

Thanks for caring about our coastline! Our February 27 cleanup was a success with 633 people helping to clean Pacific Beach! We hope to get that many people or more for our other events. Thanks for your support.

Sincerely,
Jason Gastrich

2nd Annual Hope Harvest Ultimate Frisbee Tournament on June 5th, 2010

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Sorry for the long subject line!  My name is Kuangkai Tai, and I represent Chinese Bible Church of San Diego up in Rancho Bernardo.  Last year, we held our 1st Annual Ultimate Frisbee Tournament to benefit Hope Harvest International on 3/14/09 at Doyle Community Park.

Hope Harvest International was started by one of our sisters to promote orphan care in Southern China.  More information here at  www.hope-harvest.org.

This year’s tournament/fundraiser is on 6/5/10 at the same venue, Doyle Community Park.  Please contact me at kuangkai@yahoo.com if you’re interested in participating!

Take care, and God bless!!

Psalm 68:3-5 says

But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God;
may they be happy and joyful.

Sing to God, sing praise to his name, extol him who rides on the clouds [a]

his name is the LORD—and rejoice before him.

A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

We have the opportunity to significantly impact our community!

Imagine thousands of people like you partnering to leave the biggest footprint of love imaginable in Southern California. San Diego CityFest has been invited to San Diego to partner with local organizations and churches in a Season of Service from April 2010-September 2010 culminating in a two-day celebration festival!

OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED:

Festival: September 11-12, 2010: Give a few hours of your time. Get a lot of memories. Sign up individually or as a group. Positions range from artist merchandise to greeting to clean-up crew (don’t knock this one – everyone loves a good-looking festival site!) Sign up online – website available soon www.festivalvolunteer.com

Pre-Festival:
Before the September 11-12 festival, there are also different events as well as office work that we will need assistance with. These dates will vary, and would be volunteer opportunities that could last anywhere from one hour to an entire day working an event.
-Give anywhere from an hour of your time to many hours of service (call for detailed information)

Imagine tens of thousands of kids, young families, and grandparents enjoying top quality contemporary Christian music. Picture the city’s young extreme sports crowd catching their breath during demonstrations by professional skateboarders, and thousands of kids giggling and jumping at the sight of Bob and Larry in the Family Fun Zone.

Locks of Love

Monday, February 1st, 2010

I’m new to Flood thanks to a chance friend who invited me before I even moved to CA. Since high school I’ve been growing out my hair to donate to Locks of Love. Recently I had an idea to do more.

There is a woman in my hometown church who owns a salon and I was going to try to get with her to organize a Locks of Love event where people could come and donate their hair or (if their hair wasn’t long enough) could get a trim, style, color, whatev and have all or part of the money earned donated to the charity. I never ended up doing it because of the winter holidays and my move to San Diego didn’t leave me with enough time to organize it.

I am looking to get my hair chopped soon, but before I did, I was wondering if anyone was interested in taking on this idea with me to create an event. I’m still new to the area, so I don’t have the resources or connections like I had back home, so I’m not really sure who to ask and I’d need help setting it up.

Shoot me an email if interested or have any ideas: workingwriter31@yahoo.com
