Respond to the Crisis in Haiti!

Hey Flood!

We have been considering a variety of different ways our church can respond to the crisis in Haiti. While there are a lot of great options to consider, we want to uniquely work through personal connections we have with Children of the Nations. They have been ministering to orphans in the Dominican Republic in an area near to the border of Haiti and have the supplies and facilities to uniquely care for people affected by the earthquake. Since it is difficult to get in and out of Haiti, COTN has the unique ability to work through the Dominican Republic to offer immediate relief.

We are asking everyone to consider responding in 3 ways:

1. Pray for Haiti! Pray for an end to the devastation and a beginning of healing and restoration. Would this be a moment where the Church would shine God’s love in tangible ways to people who need it. Pray for the relief personnel. Pray for the injured and the malnourished.  Subscribe to COTN’s news blog to read updates of how the relief work is going on the ground
2. Give to Haiti! COTN has setup an easy way to give directly to the emergency respond fund. Click here to give immediately.
3. Go to Haiti! COTN is in the process of setting up short term emergency response teams. They are specifically looking for medical professionals and/or grief/trauma counselors. If you or someone you know could go, please contact Mawi

We will be posting any current news, opportunities and prayer requests for Haiti here.

It’s a joy to serve such a generous community!

My roommate and I prayed aloud together using the back of today’s flyer, as part of the church-wide prayer at midnight. It was great praying communally with her about community. It brought us even closer, and God revealed to her something she had learned from a teaching experience she had at first been disappointed in.

My husband and I prayed tonight and were both reminded again of how God is sovereign even over the big issues that exist in the world. It was a blessing to pray knowing others were praying too!
